Frequently asked questions about pet portraits
Here you’ll find the answers to the most common ones — and if yours is special, I’m always just a message away.
Shipping is included in the price anywhere in Spain — islands included.
I work with a trusted courier company and you’ll always receive a tracking number, so you can see where your portrait is at all times.
Each portrait is carefully packaged and fully protected using high-quality materials, so it arrives safely and in perfect condition.
Do you live outside Spain?
International shipping is also possible. If you’re abroad, I’ll personally let you know the shipping options and costs available for your country.
Along with your portrait, you’ll receive a care guide with all the information you need to keep it in perfect condition.
Since the portrait is created using soft pastels, it’s very important to frame it properly:
✔ Ideally, it should be framed with a mat (mount) and protected behind glass or acrylic.
✔ The frame should be well-sealed so dust can’t get inside.
My recommendation is to take it to a professional framer in your area. That way you can be sure it’s well-protected and will last for many years — just like the special piece of art it is.
Your portrait is created using soft pastels — a traditional art technique made from pure pigment in pencil and stick form, without water or oils.
Because of this, the colours are rich, vibrant and don’t fade over time. Each layer is carefully fixed so the portrait keeps the true essence of your pet, just as you remember them.
Personally, I work with Faber-Castell, Rembrandt and Gioconda pastels.
The surface is also very important. I use Clairefontaine Pastelmat, a high-quality paper designed specifically for pastel work.
.
No. I never use varnish or fixatives, because over time they can yellow the portrait and alter the original colours.
I work on a special pastel paper that holds the pigment securely, so there’s no need —and it’s actually not recommended— to apply any kind of spray or sealant. This way, the colours stay pure and vibrant, just as they were created.
No 😊
The portrait is shipped unframed — partly to avoid any risk of breakage during transport, and also because choosing the frame is a very personal decision. Every home, style and pet is different, and the frame should reflect that.
Once you receive your portrait, you can choose the frame that best suits you and your space.
To reserve your custom portrait, you simply choose the size you prefer and pay 50% of the total price as a deposit.
Then we sign a commission agreement, where everything we’ve discussed is written down clearly. This gives you total transparency and peace of mind throughout the whole process.
Once the deposit is made, your spot is secured on my waiting list — and your portrait begins to come to life, strand by strand
If you decide to cancel the commission after paying the deposit, the deposit is non-refundable, as it is used to purchase materials and reserve a place in my work schedule.
In that case, you won’t need to pay the remaining balance of the portrait.
When it’s your turn on the waiting list, I’ll let you know so you can pay the remaining balance.
As soon as the payment is completed, I start working on your portrait following my usual process, taking care of every detail so the final result is exactly what your pet deserves.
When you reserve your portrait, we sign a simple commission agreement tailored to you.
It’s a clear and transparent legal document where the price, timeline and conditions are all written down — so you have total peace of mind throughout the whole process.
This way, everything is protected: your commission and my work.
If you like to know exactly what you’re signing (as you should), you can see an example of the contract I’ll send you here:

Once the deposit has been made, I’ll send you your contract by email or WhatsApp so you can read it calmly before signing.
There’s no rush and no small print — everything is clear and written down from the very beginning.
In most cases I include a simple background — either a solid colour or a soft gradient — designed to highlight your pet without taking attention away from them.
Sometimes the best option is to leave the natural colour of the paper visible, because it creates a beautiful and very organic contrast. Don’t worry: we’ll decide this together during the process, and I’ll advise you on what works best depending on the photo and the style of the portrait.
If you’d like a more detailed background — such as a landscape, your sofa at home or a specific setting — that’s also possible with a small additional cost, depending on the size of the portrait.
Along with your portrait, you’ll receive a Certificate of Authenticity — a document personally signed by me confirming that your piece is unique, original and completely handmade.
The certificate includes the key details of the artwork (size, medium, date and artist), and proves that what you have is an original work of art — not a reproduction.
Of course. A custom portrait makes a really special and unique gift.
You can make the booking yourself and, if you like, I can send you a personalised digital gift card so you can print it or forward it to the person you want to surprise.
The better the photo, the easier it is for me to capture every detail — but don’t worry: I’ll always work with whatever you have.
Ideally, if possible, it helps to have:
✔ A photo taken at eye level
✔ At least one image where the eyes and expression are clearly visible
✔ A few extra photos showing fur colour and details
And more than anything, I love when you tell me about your pet — their personality, habits, story… A portrait isn’t only about copying a picture. It’s about telling who they are — or were.
If you’re unsure about which photos to send, that’s completely fine. I’ll guide you through it and we’ll choose them together.
This happens very often — especially when a pet has already passed away 💜
And I want you to know this clearly: I also work from those photos.
I’ll do everything I can to capture their essence using whatever images you have, even if they’re old, dark or not very sharp. Sometimes it helps if you send me several different photos, even if none of them are perfect.
The only important thing is honesty between us: I’ll always tell you whether a good result is realistically possible with the material available — and if it is, I’ll put all my care and experience into creating a portrait with soul, not just shape.
That’s absolutely fine.
I can draw several pets together even if they don’t appear in the same photo.
All I need is separate photos of each pet, and from there I’ll compose the scene so that they look natural and harmonious together in the same portrait.
I’ll stay in touch with you throughout the whole process.
Before I start, I’ll send you a composition sketch so you can see how your pets will look together.
At this stage we can make small adjustments to their poses or placement — always within an artistic balance — to ensure the final portrait feels natural and harmonious.
The goal is always the same: to reflect their true essence as faithfully as possible.
Of course!
We’ll stay in touch throughout the whole process, and you’ll be able to see how your portrait slowly comes to life, step by step.
If you ever have any questions or want to share a thought along the way, I’ll be more than happy to hear from you.
It depends on the size and complexity of the commission.
Once I start working on your portrait, the creation time is usually between 7 and 15 days.
When it’s finished, I send it via a reliable courier service, securely packaged so it arrives in perfect condition. Delivery time is normally 24 to 72 hours, depending on the destination.
If you have a special date in mind, you can always ask me before booking — and I’ll tell you honestly whether it’s realistic to have it ready in time.
I will always ask for your permission before sharing your portrait on my website or social media. Your comfort comes first, so I’ll only post it if you’re happy for me to do so. And if you’d prefer that I don’t share it — or that I do so without names or personal details — I will fully respect that.
As the artist, I still retain the copyright to my work, but my approach is simple: before showing any portrait, I ask you first.
